One Day Excursion in Kythnos
Kythnos, also known as Thermia, due to its thermal springs, is one of the closest Cycladic islands to Attica, but it remains one of the most unknown corners of the Aegean. It has the familiar colour of the Cyclades, with bare and arid hills, dotted with kilometres of dry stone walls and 350 scattered whitewashed picturesque chapels. The island’s villages are full of cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, squares, churches and windmills.
Follow the paths that connect the villages of the island, taste apricots and wild berries, and of course visit the cave Katafiki, one of the largest in Greece, with rich stalactite and stalagmite decoration. Relax on one of the island’s almost 100 sandy beaches or at the hydrotherapy centre in the area of Loutra, with its two hot springs, renowned since antiquity for their therapeutic properties.
